Site and Task Approval Service for MOET, Gas Engineering and Engineering Construction Pipefitter
Following a trial with selected customers, we are making available to all customers a unique Site and Task Approval Service for these three standards. These standards all include a significant practical task as part of the end-point assessment, with the possibility of wide variations between settings. The MOET standard can be used in a wide range of engineering and manufacturing contexts; the Gas Engineering standard can apply to a range of appliances and a wide range of assemblies are permitted in the Pipefitter standard.
To help maintain a level playing field between differing settings, this new service provides a review of the proposed tasks and settings to ensure they are of a suitable complexity and provide each apprentice with comparable opportunities to demonstrate the requirements of the standard. The service requires the employer/provider to supply details of the proposed task, along with relevant supporting material such as photographs of plant, equipment or appliances. These will be reviewed and approved by one of our chief examiners. Approved practical observation tasks constitute assessment material, and it is important that the precise details of each approved task are kept confidential by the employer/provider. Typically, site and task approval should take place two to three months before end-point assessment is due to start.
